AT&T has announced that it will suspend all broadband usage caps as companies implement work from home policies due to the coronavirus pandemic. Following AT&T’s announcement, Motherboard reports that consumer groups and lawmakers are pressuring other ISPs to implement similar policies. AT&T’s announcement follows a Motherboard report from this morning in which experts outlined how data caps and overage fees don’t have any technical justification. Those quoted in the report explained that the data caps are generally just a way for ISPs to squeeze more money out of customers....

While the traditional wireless landscape in the United States has consisted of AT&T and Verizon Wireless as the heavyweights and Sprint and T-Mobile as the underdogs, the divide between the carriers appears to be quickly narrowing. Sprint and T-Mobile have both introduced highly-competitive plans and promotional offerings in the fourth quarter, leading many consumers to switch carriers at a higher-than-average pace. AT&T Chief Financial Officer John Stephens confirmed at an investors conference on Tuesday that the carrier is facing a higher subscriber churn rate than a year ago, even despite the fact that its overall subscriber base continues to grow....

In addition to announcing a trio of new Android tablets, AT&T has also announced that it is expanding its GoPhone prepaid plans to support a handful of tablets, including the iPad mini and iPad 3. The GoPhone plans work by purchasing a $10 GoPhone SIM Kit then choosing a pre-paid data plan for your device. For $15/mo you’ll get 250MB of data and 100MB of additional data can be purchased for $10 each....

AT&T just released a press release announcing availability of the iPhone 5. That certainly shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone, but a tid-bit within the press release certainly has grabbed our attention. AT&T has announced that it will allow those who purchased AT&T’s unlimited data plans from 2007-2010 to continue using it even when purchasing the iPhone 5 at a subsidized price. AT&T discontinued its unlimited data plan in 2010 and moved to a tiered data plan, which has since reprised and restructured, but those who originally purchased the unlimited plan were allowed to hang on to it as long as their contract remained unchanged....
