Archer is back this spring, and season 8 of the Emmy award-winning animation is getting a little bit noir this year. Last season, the team headed to LA to become private detectives in Hollywood, with a season finale that saw Archer (potentially) dead in a pool (a la Sunset Boulevard). The new season (titled Dreamland) will be doing something completely different – taking the spies back in time to a noir-style detective story set in the 1940s....

Zack Snyder is teaming up with Netflix for his return to the zombie genre with Army of the Dead. The movie is expected to arrive on the streaming platform sometime in 2020, but no specific release date has been announced yet. No cast or additional crew have signed for Army of the Dead, and Snyder is currently the only name attached, other than his wife and producing partner, Deborah Snyder. Both Snyder’s are credited as producers....

The CW’s DC TV shows have made their return from hiatus, looking toward the endgame for their respective seasons. Arrow is following suit, bringing Oliver and the rest of the team back where they left off: in pursuit of Adrian Chase, who has since become public enemy number one – unless the Green Arrow is still in the number one spot, then Chase is probably number two with, well, not a bullet but, you know… an arrow....

The two newest games in the series, Origins and Odyssey, drastically altered the formula for Assassin’s Creed. Many fans felt the series had become stagnant with very little mechanical change between titles. After a time, the quality of the games seemed to drop as more and more frightening and game breaking bugs emerged. After the poor sales and critical reception of Syndicate, Ubisoft decided to begin improving their game engines and the overall quality of the individual games....

A year ahead of a July 2022 deadline to implement 988 instant access to emergency mental health services, AT&T has launched support for the hotline. The carrier joins T-Mobile and Verizon in supporting the 988 emergency code. Last November we saw T-Mobile roll out support for the 988 mental health and suicide crisis hotline with Verizon following in December. Now AT&T has also launched support for 988 earlier than the FCC deadline....

Automatic, the smart driving assistant that connects your car to your iPhone, is updating its accompanying iOS app today with a new design and new features. The new design, Automatic says, is meant to be “lighter, faster and more modern”. Apple’s long-standing battle with banks in Australia continues today. According to a report from Reuters, the Australian banks plan to shift their argument with Apple towards gaining access to the contactless payment function, rather than haggling over the fees Apple charges for each transaction. Thus far in the case, Australian banks have primarily stuck with two central points of contention: the fees Apple charges and access to using the Apple Pay function for their own apps....

While we are waiting for iFixit to tear apart the new iPad so we can get a look at the device’s new 42.5-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery, we received confirmation that the battery does take hours longer to charge than the iPad 2 (iPad 2 pictured above). We know battery life remains the same with the 70 percent larger battery going mostly toward powering the new Retina display, A5x chip, and LTE-capabilities, but we wondered last week whether the new battery could take up to 70 percent longer to charge....

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the SiriusXM-owned company has announced today the surprise news that it’s closing its business and all services at the end of May. According to Flexera’s recently released 2022 State of the Cloud Report, organizations continue to waste significant cloud spending, based on survey responses from 753 global cloud decision-makers and users. 66% of executives said cloud usage is “higher than initially planned this year,” They estimated that their organizations waste 32% of cloud spend, up from 30% in last year’s survey. In addition, “spend is likely less efficient and likely even higher on average, as many organizations tend to underestimate their amount of waste,” the survey’s authors report....

You can’t make a western anime without some amazing, slightly over-the-top, and probably expensive animation. Avatar: The Last Airbender hits that sweet spot combining humor, great characters, a dash of romance, adorable cross-bred animals, and of course, well researched and choreographed fight scenes. What’s great is that each fight has a narrative, usually equal in both advancing the plot and developing the characters. But the show itself is so good that it’s allowed to have some cool, more nonsensical fights that just show us how badass the characters are....

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is known for being consistent with the quality of its films, which is why Avengers: Age of Ultron stands out – and not for good reasons, as it’s actually Marvel’s biggest failure. We’ve tested AT&T vs. Verizon’s LTE in NYC and our guy on the ground in San Francisco was able to test LTE at Yerba Buena today. Results? AT&T smoked Verizon in a bunch of areas around the “new iPad” event. Those are similar to the results in NYC and we hear the same thing happens in Irvine, CA, for instance. Why is this?
