A few years ago, I heard about Twitch and the idea of people watching other people play video games. I didn’t understand the appeal. Why would someone want to watch someone else play a game when they could play it themselves? I heard someone explain it in a podcast, though. They said it’s no different than sports. I can certainly play basketball, but I also enjoy watching it as well. Video games are no different....
Apple yesterday unveiled ARKit 3, adding support for features like people occlusion, motion capture, multiple face tracking, and much more. During a developer session on the new ARKit platform today, Apple offered additional detail on the functionality, including that it will be limited to only the most recent iPhones and iPads. Apple said today that ARKit 3 features will only be supported on iPhones and iPads that are powered by an A12 Bionic processor or newer....
3G iPhone Cult of Mac’s Leander Kahney has the information. Citing a supersecretsource, the veteran Mac writer claims Apple’s new 3G iPhone will be thinner, host GPS and 3G and will be available in 16GB and 32GB versions. Apple has allegedly slashed its initial order of Apple Watches in half, cutting the number of units from around 3 million to just 1.5 million, a new report out of Taiwan claims. As has previously been the case with Apple device launches, supplies of the new wearable are expected to be constrained due to manufacturing difficulties. The problem seems to stem from Apple’s decision to switch to a new type of display for the watch....

AT&T just announced it is forking over $780 million in cash to gobble up wireless spectrum. The carrier said it would specifically acquire Atlantic Tele-Network’s U.S. retail wireless operation that covers about 4.6 million folks in rural areas of Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio, and South Carolina. As part of the deal, AT&T will get wireless spectrum licenses, network assets, retail stores, and roughly 585,000 subscribers. AT&T uses the 700MHz band for its 4G LTE network, as well as 850MHz and 1900MHz for its 2G and 3G networks....

In the Arrow season 8 premiere, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), the hero that started the Arrowverse, unintentionally got Earth-2 destroyed. As the final season is building up to Crisis on Infinite Earths, Oliver is working closely with the Monitor (LaMonica Garrett) to prepare for what’s coming. With the Anti-Monitor active on other Earths in the Multiverse, the Monitor requires Oliver to be careful with his decisions. In order for the good guys to be one step ahead of the Anti-Monitor, Oliver has to do everything he can to not draw attention to himself....

AT&T today has revealed a slight change to how it is handling throttling users grandfathered into unlimited data plans. Up until today, AT&T has throttled unlimited data users when they hit 5GB of usage and are in a congested area. As a reader has pointed out to us this evening, however, the carrier has updated its website with a new policy for throttling those on an unlimited data plans… Starting today, users on an unlimited data plan will only be throttled when they go over 22GB of data usage and are in a congested area....
The latest update to the August Home app on iOS brings two new features to the August Doorbell Cam: motion detection and video recording. Adding the new features to Doorbell Cam (review) simply requires updating to the latest version of the iPhone app. Motion detection is free for all customers and can send you notifications when visitors are near Doorbell Cam even if they don’t ring (like an intruder lurking around)....
