Jeremy Renner took to social media to taunt Thanos with a photo of the original six Avengers. Despite Renner’s character taking a much darker turn than audiences are used to in Avengers: Endgame - transitioning from Clint Barton/Hawkeye to his new alias, Ronin - the actor seems entirely confident in his stance against the Mad Titan.

The last time that fans have seen Hawkeye on the big screen was in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. Absent from the subsequent eight films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Avengers: Infinity War, he’s set to make his dark return in Avengers: Endgame. Donning a new persona after facing unspeakable tragedy triggered by Thanos’ Decimation, Renner will return as Ronin - complete with a new weapon, a new haircut, and a new, relentless M.O. Now, with the release of Avengers: Endgame getting closer and closer, Renner took to social media to taunt Thanos.

Renner posted a grainy black and white selfie on Instagram that included himself, as well as the original six Avengers from The Avengers - Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Mark Ruffalo, who play Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk, respectively. He captioned the photo with a message for the Mad Titan, saying, “Dear Thanos, we’re coming for you… Sincerely A6!” He then included the hashtag #whateverITtakes, which is a direct quote from the Avengers: Endgame trailer. Check out the post below:

While the actual plan that the Avengers end up taking in their fight against Thanos comes down to little more than strong educated guesses and inspired speculation at this point, one likely option includes the Avengers utilizing the Quantum Realm. This theory seems especially likely given the new red, white, and black suits that the team is seen wearing in the latest trailer for Avengers: Endgame, though it’s impossible to confirm at this point.

As far as Renner’s role in the upcoming movie goes, this latest photo proves that he clearly feels confident about accomplishing their task, despite the odds. And his enthusiasm certainly isn’t a spoiler, seeing as it’s unlikely Thanos will come out on top yet again, like he did in Avengers: Infinity War. That said, as the saying goes, “pride comes before the fall,” so hopefully this confidence isn’t signaling an unexpected negative outcome for Clint in Avengers: Endgame, seeing as anything is possible at this point.
