Warning: SPOILERS for Avengers: Endgame ahead

-

A new Avengers: Endgame TV spot features Captain America (Chris Evans) fighting himself, specifically the version of Steve Rogers from 2012’s The Avengers. Prior to its theatrical release, the Avengers: Endgame trailers went out of their way to hide spoilers for Marvel Studios’ latest film, with the Russo brothers even admitting to manipulating trailer footage. It makes sense considering Avengers: Endgame is the culmination of the MCU thus far, and Marvel Studios was already notorious for preventing spoilers by using misleading marketing. Further, the Avengers: Endgame directors launched a campaign against spoilers on social media with #DontSpoilTheEndgame.

However, since Avengers: Endgame hit theaters, Marvel Studios has seemingly decided that including spoilers in new promotional videos is perfectly fine. An Avengers: Endgame TV spot released during the film’s opening weekend featured a ton of spoilers from the movie, including some of its biggest moments. Now, a day after the Avengers: Endgame directors announced the spoiler ban officially ends on Monday, Marvel Studios has released a new TV spot for the film that features one of its more fun moments.

In the latest Avengers: Endgame TV spot released by Marvel Studios, Captain America’s fight with the 2012 version of himself - the one from Joss Whedon’s The Avengers - is revealed. It’s a brief snippet from the longer fight in the movie, and includes 2012 Cap saying, “I can do this all day,” plus the shot of both Captain Americas’ shields clashing. Watch the TV spot below.

It seems a little hypocritical for Marvel to ask that fans refrain from spoiling Avengers: Endgame for a full 10 days after it hits theaters, but then release spoiler-filled TV spots for the movie. That means those fans who were unable to check out Avengers: Endgame in its opening weekend are dodging spoilers not just from fans online, but from Marvel itself. Still, considering so many people saw Endgame in its opening weekend, earning the film a record-breaking $1.2 billion worldwide haul, it may be fair to say most folks worried about being spoiled have seen the movie by now.

Besides, although this Avengers: Endgame TV spot does reveal Captain America fights himself in the movie, the video only includes a small clip from the longer fight. Certainly, Avengers: Endgame is positively filled with epic moments, so much so that Marvel could use a number of them in the TV spots and still hold plenty more back. Marvel didn’t even reveal the best parts of Captain America’s fight with himself, so anyone accidentally spoiled by this TV spot does have more to look forward to in the full movie.

Of course, those who have seen Avengers: Endgame are no doubt looking forward to the future. While Evans’ run as Captain America came to an end in Avengers: Endgame, the Captain America mantle will live on - and will likely be the focus of the Disney+ TV show Falcon and Winter Soldier. But before Steve Rogers’ Captain America gets the ending he deserves in Avengers: Endgame, the movie looks back at his character’s history in the MCU - and one of those ways is Cap fighting himself.
