WARNING: Major spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame.
A new TV spot released for Avengers: Endgame gives away several spoilers from the newest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even before the marketing began for Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios and those involved with the film have been doing their best to keep as many details about the plot a secret as possible. The title was held back until the first trailer, and all the footage released ahead of the theatrical launch only focused on a few scenes.
Avengers: Endgame is out in theaters now, but the spoiler-free mentality still exists. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo started social media campaign #DontSpoilTheEndgame to urge fans to protect the film’s many secrets for the time being, giving people around the world the chance to see the film with the same limited amount of knowledge. Many fans have tried their best to avoid spoilers, and there’s even been some physical altercations that have come as a result of careless individuals.
Marvel just released a brand new TV spot for Avengers: Endgame though, and now find themselves as culprits of spoiling major portions of the film that previously weren’t seen in the marketing. If you haven’t seen Endgame yet, it’s best to avoid seeing what’s shown below, unless learning of additional details is not a worry. Check out the footage below, that debuted as the studio celebrated great reviews and a record-setting opening at the box office:
There’s several key moments here that previously hadn’t been shown, and none may be more spoiler-filled than the one that’s used as the thumbnail on the video. The scene shows Thanos standing in front of a fully-formed army ready to lead them into battle, but it does at least protect additional details like this being Thanos from 2014 or that they’re about to fight almost the entirety of the MCU. In addition to this scene though, the spot also shows Ant-Man, Captain America, Hulk, and Iron Man on their time-traveling mission to The Avengers, the overweight version of Thor with both Stormbreaker and Mjolnir, and even Pepper Potts in her Rescue armor fighting back-to-back with Iron Man in the finale.
After a more subdued marketing campaign and the effort to preserve moments like these for the theaters, it’s surprising to see Marvel’s marketing team now let them out of the bag. They are great scenes and easily can get anyone who watches excited to see the film, but hopefully anyone who does see this will be going back for repeat viewings. If there’s one reason to give Marvel a pass here, it’s that Avengers: Endgame made over $1 billion worldwide in its opening weekend, so most people who’ve been trying to avoid seeing scenes like this have most likely already seen the film once or twice.
