A side-by-side trailer comparison shows the considerable difference in screen size between the IMAX version of Avengers: Endgame and the standard version. The fourth Avengers film, whose title was only recently revealed after a long period of suspense, is set to arrive a year after the universe-shattering events of 2018’s blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War.

Details about the new movie are being kept a closely guarded secret, but fan theories abound as to how the remaining Avengers and their friends will band together to reverse the tragic events brought about by the Mad Titan Thanos. Infinity War was of course a gigantic box office smash when it came out, grossing over $2 billion worldwide, and early projections suggest Endgame could be an even bigger success. Endgame will obviously feature many popular returning characters, including Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Black Widow, but there will also be some new arrivals including Captain Marvel, who will first be introduced in her own solo movie (which is itself tracking to be a massive hit).

As big as Avengers: Endgame will be on the big screen, the IMAX version of the film will be even bigger and more spectacular. Just how much bigger Endgame will be in IMAX is highlighted in a new side-by-side comparison video using both the standard and IMAX trailers for the movie. As the clip shows, the IMAX version will literally be 26 percent bigger than the standard version. See the comparison video below:

As IMAX explains, Endgame is only the second movie in history to be shot entirely using their cameras (Infinity War was actually the first), so the bigger picture will be present for the entire film (unlike in the past when IMAX was used only for certain scenes). Of course, that 26 percent more picture is mostly concentrated in the top and bottom of frames, where there isn’t a ton of extra information. However, fans who love breaking down every shot in search of Easter eggs will probably want to see the IMAX version, so they can examine the entire uncropped image. It’s always possible that the Russo Brothers hid something somewhere at the very top or very bottom of the IMAX frame.

Of course, the real value of seeing a movie like Avengers: Endgame in IMAX is not the possible presence of Easter eggs hidden in some far corner of the frame, it’s the sheer overwhelming visual and audio experience to be had. As massive as Infinity War was in IMAX - and indeed in standard format - Endgame is promising to be an even more spectacular experience both in terms of visual power and emotional punch.
