A new Avengers: Endgame trailer recaps the first 21 films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far and finally seemingly confirms Hulk will return. Last year, Marvel Studios celebrated the 10th anniversary of the MCU - a decade since the debut of Iron Man in 2008 - with three new movies, one of which was the massive hit Avengers: Infinity War. This year, Marvel already released Captain Marvel, but the most anticipated MCU movie ever is still to come. The entirety of the MCU has been building to this point, and fans are little more than a week away from getting to see Avengers: Endgame for themselves when it hits theaters next week.
Marvel Studios has been keeping most story details about Endgame under wraps in its marketing, choosing to focus instead on the journey so far - particularly the cliffhanger ending of Avengers: Infinity War. At the end of the previous Avengers movie, Thanos succeeded in his mission of tracking down all the Infinity Stones, assembling them together in his Infinity Gauntlet and using it to snap away half the universe. In Avengers: Endgame, those heroes left alive must pick up the pieces and figure out how to move forward. Now, a new Avengers: Endgame trailer further teases one particular mission - and seemingly reveals the return of the Hulk.
Marvel Studios released a new Avengers: Endgame trailer that mostly reuses footage from previous MCU movies, offering fans a look back at the journey so far. However, the trailer also features an alternate shot of the Avengers team members putting their fists together as they head off on their mission in the white Quantum Realm suits. In this shot, there’s one large arm that seems like it can only belong to the Hulk. Watch the trailer below.
So far, Hulk hasn’t been seen in the Avengers: Endgame marketing, neither trailers nor posters. The Avengers: Endgame character posters feature Hulk’s human counterpart, Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), and the same goes for group posters as well as the original Avengers’ EW covers. Hulkbuster armor appeared on an international poster for the film, but it’s alongside Bruce so it’s unclear what exactly that means.
Bruce wore the Hulkbuster armor in Avengers: Infinity War when the heroes made their final stand against Thanos in Wakanda. The move was because Bruce couldn’t get Hulk to come out after the Hulk had been defeated by Thanos early on in the movie. Still, it’s been expected by fans that Hulk will return in Avengers: Endgame, but that’s largely speculation since his presence hasn’t been confirmed by anything official. That is, of course, until this particular shot. The shot of the Avengers putting their fists into a circle is the clearest indication fans have gotten that Hulk will return, and he’ll be part of that mission.
Of course, it’s still not an actual shot of Hulk himself, or any of his green skin, so for all we truly know, it could be Korg. That said, since Avengers: Endgame features the original Avengers with a handful of their newest and most trusted allies, it’s much more likely this trailer is teasing a return of the Hulk than anything else. But fans will have to wait until Avengers: Endgame hits theaters to see for themselves.
