A new Avengers: Endgame synopsis surfaces seemingly confirming that the surviving heroes will try to undo Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) catastrophic snap from Avengers: Infinity War - but the synopsis isn’t official. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the fourth Avengers installment will wrap up the 22-film arc that the MCU has been following since 2008’s Iron Man.

With less than three months to go before Endgame hits theaters, not much is known regarding the plot specifics of the flick. Countless rumors have swirled online since the release of Infinity War trying to predict what will go down in the Phase 3 capper. But even with two sneak peeks (a trailer and the Super Bowl spot) showing the state of the world following The Decimation, it’s still quite difficult to gauge how Avengers 4 will shake out. Now, a recently emerged synopsis for the movie supposedly offers fans a little bit more insight with regard to what they can expect in the much-anticipated blockbuster.

Courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes comes what looks like the official synopsis for Endgame. The brief description confirms a popular theory claiming that the remaining heroes will attempt to undo Thanos’ deadly snap in the hopes of restoring peace and order in the universe. Screen Rant reached out to Disney regarding the synopsis and they confirmed it’s not official. (However, it should be noted the official Disney Australia site lists this synopsis as official.) Nonetheless, it’s something that fans can hold onto as they come up with new hypotheses regarding how things will pan out in the movie while waiting for its release.

Despite being debunked by Disney, the synopsis could offer a solid explanation for why Spider-Man: Far From Home, which takes place after the events of the twin Avengers films, is supposedly set in 2019. This is despite trailers for Endgame suggesting that time has passed since Earth’s Mightiest Heroes failed to stop Thanos from wiping out half of life in the universe. It also coincides with the popular theories the movie will involve time travel, evidenced by various photos from the set of Avengers 4.

After the devastating events of Avengers: Infinity War (2018), the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos’ actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.

It’s no secret that Marvel Studios went to great lengths to be able to preserve the secrecy surrounding Infinity War, and despite a few minor slip-ups, they were able to pull off arguably one of the most surprising twists in recent years. Considering this, fans can expect the studio will double down on security for Avengers: Endgame as the film will be the culmination of everything that has transpired in the MCU for 10 years. Even if the said blurb was genuine and it revealed a key element in its narrative, there’s still a lot that the public doesn’t know about the film. Both promo clips reveal very little about the flick - not surprising considering that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said they’ll most likely use footage from the first 20 minutes of the project in their marketing. Perhaps it’s best to just go see it with as little knowledge regarding its plot as possible. That way, fans can enjoy the movie as it is and not have any preconceived expectations about Avengers: Endgame.
