Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame broke the box office record for ticket presales at Fandango with a whopping $127 million since Endgame tickets went on sale April 2. To say that Avengers: Endgame has had an extremely successful opening weekend would be an understatement. In fact, the MCU’s latest, and perhaps most anticipated superhero film of the year, has broken a number of box office records already.

Even though Avengers: Endgame just hit U.S. theaters on Friday - and earlier in the week in certain international markets - the movie has already broken many records. The latest in the MCU brought in $156.7 million domestically on opening day, and $1.2 billion collectively over opening weekend, worldwide. Endgame reunites beloved characters and cast members from previous Avengers chapters and spin-offs, including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth). The film also introduces new characters from the MCU to the Avengers franchise, such as Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and Wasp (Michelle Pfeiffer) from Ant-Man & The Wasp. Aside from the impressive cast list, the film has also been largely well-received, with Avengers: Endgame reviews praising the epic conclusion to the MCU thus far.

The president of Fandango, one of the leading digital networks for movie lovers, reports that they have broken presale records, having sold $127 million in cumulative ticket sales over the Avengers: Endgame opening weekend. This number also includes advanced ticket sales, which began on April 2. Fandango President Paul Yanover stated in this morning’s press release:

Moreover, Yanover detailed Fandango’s record-breaking ticket sales:

“At Fandango, we are very proud to have generated record ticket sales for Avengers: Endgame, helping millions of fans get tickets to their favorite theaters and be a part of box office history this weekend.”

Fandango has also conducted a survey for Endgame moviegoers, reporting that 81 percent said they would consider seeing the movie a second time in theaters. Things are looking very good so far for the latest iteration of the MCU, so much so that the film has generated immense anticipation for what’s to come next. In other words, moviegoers are as anxious as ever for Phase 4 of the MCU, with 92 percent reporting they are already looking forward to it!

“Endgame’s historic performance underscores fans’ love for the big screen experience. Over the weekend and this morning, we’re seeing strong ticket sales for Endgame chase weeks ahead, demonstrating the movie’s unprecedented run is just getting started as we head into summer movie season.”

Avengers: Endgame has earned it place in movie history, smashing records left and right. The film has only been in theaters for a couple of days, and has already exceeded expectations at the box office. With a film as highly regarded as this one, it will be interesting to see if Marvel can pull it off again with Phase 4 - or anytime in the future. The bar has been raised significantly, but given the success of Avengers: Endgame, it shouldn’t be too long before Marvel breaks their own record.
