There’s plenty of mystery still surrounding Avengers: Endgame, but one of the biggest questions is who will be the MVP of the film. The number of heroes that are still alive after Avengers: Infinity War is much smaller than the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown accustomed to having recently, but that just means larger roles are ahead for those who are alive.
We know that Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man, Rocket, and War Machine survived the snap and will be ready to lend their services to try and change the reality. It appears the plan will involve time travel in some way to undo Thanos’ snap. However, there are also some theories that point to Thanos changing sides and actually being a somewhat heroic character in Avengers: Endgame. With so many possibilities in play - and that’s not even mentioning the characters that are currently gone - there is no shortage of characters who could play prominent roles in the Phase 3 conclusion.
In the latest Screen Rant video, we take a look at the 25 most likely MVPs of the film. The list does include some long shot candidates like Bucky, Loki, or even some characters who have yet to be introduced. The top choices are some of the MCU’s longest lasting heroes, but also one newer one. Take a look:
Since most of these characters will likely play a factor in the victory in some way, they’re all worthy of being included on the list. That said, there are only a handful that are true MVP candidates that could either deliver the final blow to Thanos or be instrumental in the plan. Ant-Man’s knowledge of the Quantum Realm makes him a clear choice for being MVP, while Captain Marvel’s possible time travel ability could also give her the edge. But, it may very well be the original six Avengers that are the most likely MVP choices.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has indicated that there is a reason they are all still alive from a story perspective, and since Avengers: Endgame could be their final appearances, it is a safe bet that they’ll play key roles in the finale. Iron Man is responsible for kicking off the MCU, and Thor could use redemption for not going for Thanos’ head, but if the Russos continue to take inspiration from Jim Starlin’s Infinity Gauntlet comic, then Captain America or Nebula could receive iconic moments of their own. With so many different heroes set up and capable of being the MVP, we’ll just have to wait for Avengers: Endgame to hit theaters to see who it will be.
