LEGO has officially revealed their Avengers: Endgame playsets, teasing the return of the Outriders. Avengers: Endgame is easily the most secretive film Marvel has ever released, with Kevin Feige even suggesting the trailers may only use footage from the first 15-20 minutes of the film. Tie-in merchandise has been held back until the last minute, leading to a reduced presence at the New York Toy Fair.

Over the last few days, though, toy companies have begun to reveal their Avengers: Endgame tie-ins. Hasbro has unveiled the rest of their Marvel Legends range, for example, giving fans their best look yet at the Ronin costume worn by Hawkeye. But fans had been particularly eager to see the LEGO playsets. It’s true that these don’t always blow the lid on major plot elements; one Doctor Strange model featured the monstrous Shuma-Gorath breaking into the Sanctum Sanctorum, which certainly didn’t happen in the film. And yet, last year’s Avengers: Infinity War LEGO range were pretty accurate.

This time around, LEGO has confirmed that there are five playsets:

The biggest takeaway from these playsets is clearly that the Outriders look certain to return. There was already evidence they’d been edited out of the Avengers: Endgame trailer, but there’s no way the alien monsters would feature so prominently in this much tie-in merchandise if they don’t appear in the film. The Compound Battle playset even seems to suggest that Thanos and his Outriders will actually launch an attack upon the Avengers. Meanwhile, notice the shared colorscheme between Captain America’s bike and the jeep included with the Compound. Given the Avengers are wearing team uniforms in Avengers: Endgame, that may imply their vehicles have been branded as well. In which case, it’s possible these vehicles will actually appear in the film. War Machine’s Mech suit is unlike anything that’s been seen in the MCU to date; assuming it’s not entirely original to LEGO, it suggests the Avengers have armed themselves ready for their rematch with Thanos.

Probably the most interesting playset is the Hall of Armors. The original Hall of Armors was destroyed in Iron Man 3, but Tony Stark will have had plenty of time to build a new one. In Avengers: Endgame Tony Stark wore the Mark 50, but in Avengers: Endgame he’s wearing the Mark 85, which suggests there’s a substantial time-jump somewhere in the film. At the same time, though, notice that the armors included with the playsets are indeed ones that were destroyed: the Mark 1, Mark 5, and Mark 41, as well as the Mark 50. Given there’s already strong evidence that Avengers: Endgame is a time travel film, it’s possible the Avengers go back in time to before the Hall of Armors was destroyed. If so, the fact that Outriders are included with this playset may hint that Thanos and his army pursue them back in time. Whatever the truth may be, this does support a theory that a piece of concept art released back in February 2017, showing Tony Stark in a Hall of Armors, was really associated with Avengers: Endgame not Avengers: Infinity War.
