Tony Stark’s Hulkbuster armor is confirmed to return in Avengers: Endgame thanks to a new international poster. The marketing campaign for the final Phase 3 film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is kicking into high gear now after last week’s release of the full Avengers: Endgame trailer. Marvel Studios has so far done a great job at concealing as much about the movie as possible, with the focus of the marketing being put on the surviving heroes and how they’re responding to their failed attempt to stop Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
The heroes were scattered across the galaxy last time around, but Avengers: Endgame will see the ones left alive come together to try and bring back the half of the universe’s population Thanos snapped away. Whatever their plan is, the Avengers will have the added strength of Captain Marvel and Ant-Man this time around. However, one of the potentially most important returns will be Hulk finally deciding to come out and help. The giant green hero has been shown in promotional art, but not in any footage, which makes the latest inclusion of the Hulkbuster armor all the more interesting.
A new international poster (shared by ComingSoon) for Endgame shows the surviving heroes together, including the Hulkbuster armor. The armor originally debuted in Avengers: Age of Ultron as Tony’s way of fighting Hulk, but it returned in Infinity War for Bruce to wear thanks to Hulk’s issues. The new poster, which can be seen below, confirms it will return in Endgame in some form. Additionally, Anton Volkov of Trailer-Track shared two new TV spots for the film, but the only new material is a small piece of dialogue from Captain America in the first spot.
Since so little is truly known about Avengers: Endgame, figuring out how, when, and where Hulkbuster fits into the story is no easy task. Considering it is placed on the poster right next to Bruce, it may just be that he repairs and then continues to use the suit during Tony’s absence and while his Hulk performance issues continue. This possibility would indicate the Avengers are still active heroes in some form if Bruce is needed to wear the suit. Maybe this is tied to the early fight scene the marketing is trying to hide.
Between this small detail in the poster and more of Cap’s speech, Marvel Studios is still being very selective in what they’re showing from Endgame. There will surely be more international posters and TV spots that are released, but hopefully Marvel takes the same approach with all future materials as they have so far. The film is already projected to be the highest opening weekend of all-time, so with anticipation and awareness already wildly high, Marvel can continue to protect any and all Avengers: Endgame plot details, reveals, and spoilers by showing next to nothing new from here on out.
