The score of Avengers: Endgame is now complete, the Russo brothers have announced. Competing with Star Wars: Episode IX for the most hotly anticipated film of 2019, Avengers: Endgame follows last year’s Avengers: Infinity War which shockingly saw Thanos win by collecting all the Infinity Stones and wiping out half of the universe with a single snap of his fingers. Avengers: Endgame will pick up with what’s left of the Avengers Initiative coming together once again to wear some fancy new suits and try to defeat Thanos against all odds.

Providing the musical background to this upcoming epic battle for the fate of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is renowned composer Alan Silvestri, who many will remember as the man behind the uplifting Back to the Future score that became so synonymous with the trilogy. More recently, Silvestri has contributed several scores to the MCU on Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, and Avengers: Infinity War, and within that body of work, the Avengers’ main theme has become particularly recognizable.

Avengers: Endgame’s sibling directing duo, Joe and Anthony Russo, have now announced via their official Twitter account that Silvestri’s score is now complete. They posted a celebratory tribute to the composer alongside Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige. Check out the tweet below:

The fact that the Russos single out working with Silvestri as a highlight of their career speaks volumes about the composer’s standing within the industry, and many fans will no doubt be looking forward to his latest work after the positive reaction to Silvestri’s previous MCU scores. This news is also perhaps a stark reminder that Avengers: Endgame’s release is now only a month or so away, with polishing off the music being one of the final steps in a movie’s production.

Interestingly, a score’s track listing will sometimes be released ahead of the film itself and offer some insight into the story. Given the intense level of secrecy around Avengers: Endgame, however, that’s unlikely to be the case here. Even if the titles are revealed, they will no doubt be vague enough that not even the slightest plot hint could be gleaned from them.

Many fans are speculating that Avengers: Endgame will act as some kind of conclusion to the current part of the MCU or, at the very least, some of the veteran characters, such as Chris Evans’ Captain America. If this does indeed prove to be the case, then it’s incredibly fitting to have Silvestri on board to provide the musical accompaniment, as he was the figure behind both Cap’s first solo outing and the creation of the Avengers team.
