AT&T TV is the latest live TV streaming service to come through and it is now available nationwide. However, this one is a little different to the other streaming services, including AT&T TV NOW. Here’s what you need to know to determine whether AT&T TV or AT&T TV NOW is the right option for you.

AT&T is not short on videos services considering it now offers U-verse, DIRECTV, HBO, AT&T WatchTV, AT&T TV NOW and AT&T TV. In spire of this varied selection, each service is relatively unique, making deciding between them a little easier. This is even true when it comes to the two AT&T TV services as although they share the same name, they are very different video products.

AT&T TV Is For Cable Customers

The new AT&T TV is designed for those looking to cut the physical cord, without actually cutting the cord in the new-age sense. Instead, the new live TV streaming service offers an experience that’s very similar to what existing cable and satellite customers get - both in terms of the good and the bad. AT&T TV requires subscribers to sign up to a two-year agreement. What’s more, while the prices are currently low, they are only introductory discounts and increase (a lot) in the second year. For example, the least expensive plan is labelled as the “Entertainment” package and costs $49.99 per month for the first 12 months. However, the price shoots up to $93 per month in the second year. From the good perspective, AT&T TV does not require someone to come out to a subscriber’s home or any complicated installation. Instead, AT&T sends out a streaming set-top box to users that they can self-install by simply connecting the device to their TV, just like they would with any other streaming player. The device actually runs on Android TV which also makes it compatible with many other Android streaming apps. In addition, the channel lineup is far more similar to what existing cable and satellite TV subscribers will already be used to.

AT&T TV NOW Is For The Cord Cutters

Unlike AT&T TV, the NOW version is designed for those that want an actual cord cutting experience. For example, there are no contracts involved with users able to cancel at any time, and without incurring any fees or additional charges. There’s also no need for any specific hardware, including AT&T’s own Android TV set-top box. Instead, subscribers are free to use AT&T TV NOW on any device they want, as long as the device runs on a platform where the AT&T TV NOW app is available. The downside of AT&T TV NOW is that it is not as cheap as many other streaming services, or even AT&T TV during the first year. The cheapest AT&T TV NOW plan is currently $65 per month, and comes with far less channels compared to AT&T TV. Although, it does come bundled with HBO, resulting in a $15 per month saving.

While these two services are similar in name, they are very different offerings which should make the decision of which one is right for you an easy one. If you want to cut the cord as much as possible with no commitment and no additional hardware, then AT&T TV NOW will be the better choice. However, if you want to just cut the physical cable cord, but still want an experience that’s almost identical to what you are already getting, then AT&T’s latest streaming service might be worth checking out.
