Editor Note: This is one of those times where you should carefully read the EULA. By using the unlock tool you’re permanently voiding the warranty on your tablet, and will no longer be able to receive updates from Asus. This is not recommended for the faint of heart. Back up all your data before following my guide. To get started, you will need to enable non-market apps on your device. Go to Settings » Security and ensure that Unknown Sources is checked.

Download Unlock_Device_App_V6.apk, from the Asus website. Either download it directly onto your tablet or you can download it onto your computer then move it onto your microsd card. Next, open up File Manager and locate the apk file. Tap on it to bring up the Install menu. Select install.

Select Open and run the application. You will be greeted with the EULA which you must read and check the “I have read…” box. Press OK.

On the next page you’ll see another warning message. Read it, check the Agree box, then tap Press to Unlock Your Device.

On the next page, you’ll be asked to sign into the Google account tied to the device. Enter your password then press OK.

At this point, do not touch anything on your device. You can corrupt the process if you do. You’ll see your Transformer Prime restart, unlock the bootloader, then restart again. Once you’re back at your home screen you are now ready to install ClockworkMod recovery. You Prime must be rooted to follow the next steps! If it isn’t, please read my How to Root your Asus Transformer Prime guide then come back. To start, go to the androidroot.mobi site and download the CWM Blob file onto your device.

After that has downloaded, go to the Android market and install Android Terminal Emulator.

Once that has installed, you need to double check the path where you downloaded the blob file. In my example, you can see that it is located at /sdcard/Download/tfp_CWM5_androidroot.blob

Open Terminal Emulator. The first thing we need to do is elevate our rights. To do that, type: su then press ENTER.

  You will be asked to allow Superuser to run and then press Allow.

Next is where the magic happens! Type: dd if=/sdcard/Download/tfp_CWM5_androidroot.blob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4. Notice that the path immediately after if= is the path to the blob file on my device. Make sure that you change this so that it is pointing to the place where you saved the blob file on your own device.

  After you press ENTER, the command will finish running quickly.

  Once finished (you’ll be back at a # prompt), shut down your Prime.

Before you turn your Prime back on, be ready to act fast. Hold down the Volume Down button + the Power button (you can release the Power button once you feel the Prime vibrate). Keep holding down the Volume Down until you see a message appear in the top left of the screen. Once you see that message, quickly let go of Volume Down then press Volume Up. You will see it display the message Booting Recovery Kernel Image.

You’ll see ClockworkMod recovery load up. You’re done!
