Check OTA Update
Asus always release firmware OTA updates to its eligible devices in batches based on the server or region. So, it’s quite obvious that most of the users may receive the firmware update notification lately. However, it’s recommended to check for OTA updates manually on your device via the phone Settings > System > Advanced > System updates.
Make sure to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network and fully charge the battery level. If your device gets the latest software update notification, you can simply grab the OTA by downloading and installing it. Pre-Requirements:
- This guide and firmware files are exclusive for the Asus ROG Phone model.
- Maintain at least 50% of the battery charge on your device.
- A PC/Laptop and a USB cable are required.
- Backup your device data at first before doing anything.
- Install the latest Asus USB Drivers on your PC [For All Android USB Drivers]
- Download ADB & Fastboot tools on your PC and install it.
Instructions to Install
Here we’ve provided two methods to install the stock firmware on your Asus handset. You can follow one of these methods for your device.
Method 1: Install via Recovery (Recommended)
- First of all, you need to download the firmware zip file from the link above on your device and rename the file to update.zip.
- Now, power off your handset and reboot the device into recovery mode by press & hold both the Power button + Volume UP button together for a few seconds.
- Into the recovery menu, you can select apply update from sd card.
- Now, choose the update.zip file that you’ve downloaded earlier.
- Wait for the complete installation process.
- Once done, just restart your Asus ROG Phone.
- That’s it.
Method 2: Install via ADB Sideload
- Download the ADB and Fastboot tools for Windows or Mac and unzip it on your PC.
- Then install the ADB & Fastboot tools on the computer.
- Next, copy the downloaded OTA zip file to the installed ADB and fastboot folder.
- Enable Developer Options and USB Debugging on your Asus phone.
- Open the extracted ADB & Fastboot folder > Launch Command Window by pressing Shift Key + Right Mouse Click.
- Now, turn off your phone and restart your device into recovery mode by press & hold the Volume UP + Power button simultaneously for a couple of seconds.
- Next, connect the mobile to the computer using a USB cable.
- Then enter the following command in the command prompt and hit Enter:
adb devices
- If your device is connected properly, you will see a serial number on the command window. If not, you should check that all the necessary drivers and tools are properly installed on the PC.
- Now, if your device is connected, type the following command and press Enter:
adb sideload File_name.zip
- The firmware installation process will start. Have some patience.
- Once done, reboot your Asus ROG Phone into the new system.
- The first boot may take some time to boot. Enjoy!
Asus ROG Phone Android 10 Timeline Tracker
As the ROG Phone was the first-gen of flagship-grade gaming smartphone from Asus, it’s expected that the device may get Android 10 update pretty soon. Meanwhile, we can also assume that Asus can easily deliver two years of major Android updates to its flagship devices. So, the 2018’s Asus ROG Phone is a strong contender to receive the Android Q update officially. However, as there is no official confirmation yet, we may have to wait for the announcement.
