Fans may not have a new Assassin’s Creed game until 2020, but there is more than one way to enter the ancient war of Assassins and Templars. Luckily, Titan Comics has just released Assassin’s Creed: The Fall & The Chain, the graphic novel collecting both halves of what is likely the most important Assassin’s Creed story NOT featured in the video game. Not completely, anyway.
The star of the modern side of the AC saga will always be remembered as Desmond Miles, but fans who have spent hours diving through the extended lore, comic books, novels, and online archives know Desmond is just a pawn in a larger game. After all, it was Daniel Cross who helped decide the fate of the Assassin-Templar conflict in both the past and present… years before he ever captured the unsuspecting Desmond.
Joining Assassin’s Creed: The Fall and Assassin’s Creed: The Chain in one collection, writer Cameron Stewart (Fight Club) and Karl Kerschl (Robotech) take readers into the life of Daniel Cross, a troubled man haunted by the memories of his ancestor. While also taking readers back to turn of the century Russia, walking in the body of Nikolai Orelov, esteemed member of Narodnaya Volya (the Russian sect of the Assassin Order). And in honor of the new release, Titan has offered a preview for fans to pique their curiosity:
This marks only the latest Assassin’s Creed release from Titan Comics, having previously released the four-part comic series Assassin’s Creed: Origins, expanding the fiction of the game (by detailing the first years of the Assassin Order). Fans of the series who haven’t already enjoyed The Fall and The Chain may want to fix that, considering this story explains what almost wiped out the Assassins entirely. If not for Desmond, of course.
Assassin’s Creed: The Fall & The Chain will be available through physical and digital marketplaces on October 30th, 2019.
Daniel Cross has vivid hallucinations of a past life; that of Nikolai Orelov, a Russian Assassin living in the early 20th Century, and his son Innokenti. The Fall and The Chain tells the story of Daniel’s rise and fall through the ranks of the Assassin Brotherhood, and his subsequent rise through the ranks of the Templars.
Collected for the first time, an original Assassin’s Creed story from the Eisner-and-Shuster-Award-winning artist/writer team of Cameron Stewart and Karl Kerschl. Dive into 19th-century Russia with assassin Nikolai Orelov, in an explosive thriller that reveals the truth behind the Tunguska Event, the Templar links to the Russian Tsar, and the secrets of Abstergo! Collects Assassin’s Creed: The Fall and Assassin’s Creed: The Chain.
