During the sixth season of Smallville, DC Comics fans were finally introduced to Green Arrow. While that Oliver Queen and the one we now follow on Arrow are slightly different in their approach, it was clear that a spinoff was needed. The new wave show has lasted longer than some have thought or hoped.

After eight seasons, the show is finally ending. With a team that has seen many members come and go, fans threw their trust and sometimes hate at more than a few. Here at the top 10 fan-favorite characters of Arrow.

Prometheus

Compared to others, Prometheus didn’t have as much screen time but his presence on Arrow may have served as one of the best storylines in the show’s history. For starters, he was just as skilled as Oliver. Their fighting styles were similar, and his vengeance kept Oliver and Team Arrow on their toes the entire time.

But what made him hard to keep off this list was that he was the one guy that Oliver just couldn’t get ahead of. He was always one step ahead of them all the time. That alone made viewers look at him differently than any other villain the team had faced. And once he was dismasked, it became more intense.

Curtis Holt

If one computer geek wasn’t enough, the writers gave us another two. Curtis added a comedic role to Team Arrow while still being serious about his tasks. But that wasn’t all that Curtis added. Know as Mister Terrific, Curtis hit the streets with the rest of the team.

His private life was put on display as his choice of being a vigilante ended his marriage to his husband. While Team Arrow and Team Arrow 2.0 were at odds, Curtis and Felicity still managed to try and remain business partners. Curtis was not known as the best fighter, but he was clearly the weakest link but when it mattered, he had heart and never let his team down.

Roy Harper

Roy was the perfect candidate to join Team Arrow. Nevermind the connection he had with Thea, Roy was more like Oliver than anyone else on the show. There was always a level of respect between the two but as time passed, it also became a brotherhood. Roy not only learned the ways of fighting, he took to it as if it was second nature to him.

Roy took the blame for being “The Hood” which forced him into isolation. He was called upon again for help and was there when Team Arrow needed him. As great of a fighter as he is, Roy’s best trait would be his loyalty.

Deathstroke

Slade Wilson should have never been taken off the show. Much like Prometheus, he was driven by revenge. He wanted Oliver to feel the pain he felt for what he believed was Oliver not saving Shadow’s life. What was great about Deathstroke is that he and Oliver shared a history. They spent time on Lian Yu together in which they formed a strong bond. However, after Slade was presumed dead, Oliver moved on.

Once back in Star City to claim his vengeance, Deathstroke did all he could to break Oliver. The end result was a murder that shook the entire show. With a chance to kill Oliver, Slade instead elected to take his revenge out on his mother right in front of Oliver and Thea. They would later make amends and join up together.

Rene Ramirez

If you thought Oliver was hard-headed, Rene, in the beginning, was just as terrible if not worse. He was not about the team concept and often did things his way. Growing up in the Glades and raising a daughter alone forced him to be that way. However, after many run-ins with Oliver, Diggs is the one who reeled him in and made Rene realize how important having a team was.

Rene was a tough sell, and it got even tougher when it was revealed that it was indeed him who snitched on Oliver and had him arrested. He earned his way onto Team Arrow and would later become the Mayor of the Glades.

Thea Queen

At first glance, Thea was the spoiled little sister of Oliver, but that was far from the truth. In her defense, she lost her father and brother and was lashing out. The issues with her mother were just a result of her pain and grief. But as the show grew, so did her character. Thea was sent for a spin when she learned that Malcolm Merlyn was her dad, her brother was “The Hood,” her mom turned evil and was then killed right in front of her.

Malcolm taught Thea how to fight, which she used to join Team Arrow as “Speedy.” She’s a great fighter, but a life-threatening injury turned Thea into a blood-lust Warrior. Her relationship with Roy was good for the show, but the writers couldn’t maintain that with the pace of the other storylines.

Laurel Lance

Good Laurel or bad Laurel, it doesn’t matter. Her character provided insight into the real Oliver Queen. The District Attorney had enough of fighting criminals in the courtroom and decided to take it to the streets. At first, it was hard seeing her as a vigilante, but the Black Canary grew on us.

When Laurel was killed, fans were shocked but that outcry was heard as Arrow pulled another Canary from another universe to take her place. The new Laurel was pure evil but the love of Quentin helped her change those evil ways. While she has had her moments where she’s still fighting those inner demons, the new Laurel appears to be Team Arrow all the way now.

John Diggle

Diggs was brought in to drive and protect Oliver when he first came home. Their friendship was one of business and lies as Oliver had to ditch Diggs just to fight crime. Eventually, Diggs would learn the truth and become the first official member of Team Arrow. John works off of brute strength, and the name “Spartan” fits him well.

Diggs lived a complex life as well. He was married, had a son, became the Green Arrow, watched as his little brother betrayed him a few times, and still served as Oliver’s voice of reason. He’s not without fault, but Diggs is the one character on Arrow who may have the best insight.

Felicity Smoak

The original Team Arrow computer geek, Felicity often played the role of a mother hen to the other members. Back at the bunker, she was their eyes and ears to all operations. Feisty is one of the best words to describe Felicity Smoak. Ever since Oliver gave her a new laptop, Felicity knew what and who she wanted. Her role as Overwatch was to protect the team but more so to be closer to Oliver. In the end, she got the man and two kids.

What made Felicity so appealing besides her smarts and loyalty was her ability to put everyone in their place. Oliver is one of the most feared men, yet he couldn’t play that tough role with her.

Oliver Queen

Oliver Queen was the boy who was lost at sea then trapped on an island. The person who came back was not the same one who left. His purpose was clear, and he was determined to save his city. But along the way, Oliver had to realize he needed saving too. That’s where Team Arrow came into play.

Oliver has been through a lot. He’s been shot, stabbed, almost beat to death in combat, and killed. He pushed people away, ran away and yet, he’s become a better person for it. Oliver is the true definition of a hero and a leader.
