Those wanting to know if Green Arrow and the Canaries will be picked up shall find out sometime in May. Arrow, the frontrunner of the massive Arrowverse, concluded in January. Its final episode served as an epilogue to Oliver Queen’s story, while also serving as a sendoff to his allies.

Arrow has featured a number of characters throughout its eight-season run. One of the most prominent in its last two seasons was Mia Smoak, the daughter of Oliver and Felicity. Mia played an especially interesting role in season 8. Here, she traveled to the present day and met her father in the flesh. She was involved in Crisis on Infinite Earths, where Oliver gave her a Green Arrow suit. Interestingly, a show focusing on Mia and the new 2040 timeline is being considered. The CW aired a backdoor pilot for this potential show. In it, Mia had become a socialite, but was brought back into the crime-fighting fold by Dinah and Laurel. The backdoor pilot saw good ratings. Surprisingly, the show was not confirmed for a pickup despite solid ratings. Now, fans know when that answer will come.

Longtime Arrow producer Marc Guggenheim stated word will arrive in May whether or not Green Arrow and the Canaries gets picked up. Check out the producer’s Tweet below.

At the moment, it’s up in the air until May whether or not Green Arrow and the Canaries sees the light of day. Many would probably assume it’s more than likely, which is fair. Arrow left a lasting legacy on the network, and the backdoor pilot for the spinoff was well received. There is certainly a built-in fanbase for an Arrow spinoff. Of course, even though Arrow has ended, comic book-based programming on The CW isn’t going anywhere, but rather expanding. Superman & Lois was given a series order before a pilot has even aired. Stargirl is airing sometime this spring. With these shows and the current ones, the network has an assortment. It remains to be seen if The CW will squeeze in another show to its roster.

There are certainly things Green Arrow and the Canaries needs to address should the show come to fruition. There is a mysterious antagonist lurking in the shadows. JJ has been forcibly reminded of his pre-Crisis persona as Deathstroke. William is currently captured. The backdoor pilot had plenty of setup, so it would be a shame for fans if the show isn’t picked up. Fans should have their answer in May.
