Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) may be gone from the Arrowverse, but Arrow’s legacy lives through his daughter Mia Queen-Smoak (Kat McNamara), who now carries the Green Arrow mantle. While the series never teased the idea that viewers would get to see Oliver’s kids down the line, later seasons eventually made it happen. Mia arrived during season 7 when the show began exploring Star City from a future angle by doing flashforwards to 2040. Even from her first appearance, it became evident that Mia would play a large role in the Arrowverse’s future, especially after the news that the series would end after season 8.
Promoted to a full-time cast member for the final season, Mia ended up getting to take part in Arrow’s last run of episodes. With a proposed spinoff in Green Arrow and the Canaries, Mia’s time with the franchise may not be over as the character would get to lead her own show. As the series has now ended, it’s time to look at Mia’s best moments and events during her time on Arrow.
Revealing Her True Identity
When McNamara first appeared in the seventh season, she was introduced as the cage fighter Blackstar initially. But the series, as well as the fandom, knew that there was more than meets the eyes when it came to this character.
The thirteenth episode got tense in the flashforwards as things began coming together. But the biggest moment in the whole plot was when Blackstar revealed herself to be Mia Smoak, Felicity’s (Emily Bett Rickards) daughter as well as being William’s (Ben Lewis) half-sister.
Meeting Oliver For The First Time
As Olive was set to die in the coming Crisis, there was no way that the series wouldn’t let him see his grown-up kids before going into his final mission in life. The third episode of the final season ended on a massive emotional note as Mia, William, and Connor got taken from 2040 to 2019, finding themselves in front of present Team Arrow. But it’s the following episode where the waterworks begin as both Queen children are stunned to see their father alive. For Mia, however, this was her first time ever seeing her father, which made it for a powerful scene.
Being Mentored By Laurel
Having the same stubbornness and energy as her parents, Mia’s time in 2019 was challenging, to say the least. Since she never had Oliver in her life growing up, Mia had no interest in following her father’s orders to not go after the new Deathstroke on her own.
Instead, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) is the one to join her which gives the two heroines a moment to get to know each other. But the villain-turned-hero ends up getting to mentor the future Emerald Archer during a rough time as Mia had just lost an ally back in her timeline.
Fighting Alongside Oliver In Russia
With a final season, the last visit to Russia had to happen, which allowed that episode to heal Oliver’s relationship with Anatoly. Their mission came with some sweet action including a sequence where Oliver and Mia got to kick butt together as the superhero father/daughter team-up that they were. That would just be one of many times with her where Oliver was assured that Mia was more than capable of taking care of herself.
Her Moment With Oliver At Lian Yu
Leading up to the crossover, Oliver and the team had one final stop before the multiverse shattering event would begin. While it was the Queen Gambit that caused so much trouble for Oliver, it was the island Lian Yu that would begin his unforgettable journey as a hero.
After everything that went down in that episode, the best scene is Oliver’s moment with Mia in the end. Knowing that the Crisis was closing in, Oliver and Mia share a heartbreaking scene as she was about to lose her father, who she had only gotten to spend limited time with since being sent to 2019.
Meeting The Other Heroes
As dramatic and big as “Crisis on Infinite Earths” was, the 5-hour crossover still came with some action-free moments. Given that most of the other Arrowverse heroes didn’t even know that Oliver had a daughter, Mia’s introduction became a lot funnier. When she introduces herself as Oliver’s kid, it’s hysterically absurd. Not only did most of them not know about Oliver even having a second child, no one knew until then that the grown-up version had time-traveled from the future.
Joining The League To Evacuate Earth-38
For her first crossover, Mia had to start on a big note as the first task was to evacuate Earth-38, the world of Supergirl and Superman. As they tried to buy some time to stop the anti-matter wave from destroying the Earth, Mia joins the team in taking down as many Shadow Demons as possible.
Just the idea of seeing father and daughter fight together in the franchise’s biggest crossover of all time was incredible in itself. Even though Mia isn’t seen for the rest of the event after part 3, it was still fun to see her in it at the start.
Accepting The Green Arrow Mantle
Before his penultimate battle and his first death, Oliver had one final gift to give Mia as his time was coming up. With the spinoff on the minds of the viewers, it was inevitable that Oliver would, in one way or another, pass on the Green Arrow mantle to Mia. But the fact that it happened in the crossover right before he was about to die, was powerful.
Beginning A New Crusade With The Black Canaries
The penultimate episode of the series served as the backdoor pilot for the potential team-up spinoff. While the Crisis ended up changing Mia’s life drastically, it doesn’t take long before she got her memories back of the pre-Crisis version of her life, thanks to Laurel. Reluctant at first, Mia eventually embraces her destiny to carry her father’s legacy by joining the Black Canaries in a new crusade to protect Star City.
Meeting Felicity In 2020
The series finale was perhaps the most emotionally charged episode in the entire series. Despite Oliver rebooting the universe and reviving several of his lost ones from the dead, he still remained gone. Thanks to Sara, Mia ends up getting to attend her father’s funeral with the rest of the Arrow characters. However, it’s the scene where she meets her mom in the past that pulls the heartstrings.
