Warning: Minor SPOILERS for Aquaman #58

In the entire pantheon of superhero love stories, few can approach the mythic level of Aquaman and Mera. But after the DC Rebirth brought them together as they always should have been, their relationship blossomed. And now the time has come to deal with the result. Because not long after Arthur and Mera deliver their baby in the new year… the sharks will start to circle.

The rightful King and Queen of Atlantis are in for a new adventure when they give birth to their first child in February, giving DC’s Atlantis its first royal Aquababy in years. For most people, even most superheroes, it would be a time for celebration. But when you’re Mera, chosen Queen of Atlantis, and Arthur the descendant of blood every bit as formidable and ancient, a newborn child is more than adorable. It’s a royal heir, and a potential threat to any number of challengers from within Atlantis and without. To these forces who would have such power only to themselves, Aquaman and Mera’s child isn’t just a comic book twist – she’s the future Queen of Atlantis.

Arthur will survive Black Manta and Lex Luthor’s Year of the Villain., but after a brief ‘interlude’ issue with Aquaman #56 in January, the countdown to the Aquababy will be over come February. But come March, keeping that daughter safe becomes the top priority. Take a look at the cover art below:

It should come as no real surprise to see Arthur’s brother Ocean Master attack when Aquaman is at his most vulnerable, and when Mera is comatose and unable to fight him.
