AT&T just announced it will soon enable FaceTime over cellular for all customers on tiered data plans using a compatible iOS device at no extra charge. So, folks on tiered plans with an iPhone 4S can now use FaceTime over cellular. AT&T previously only allowed Mobile Share plan customers and LTE device owners—such as those with an iPhone 5 and iPad 3 and newer—on tiered plans to use the feature over cellular, but the carrier still plans to restrict users on grandfathered unlimited data plans....

A physical gag can go a long way, especially when handled with focus. With Samsung yesterday reported to be gearing up to win back some of Apple’s A-series chip production from next year, TSMC is today said to be boosting its own plans to make processors for the 2018 iPhone. TSMC last year became Apple’s sole supplier of its A-series, in large part due to its lead in ever-smaller chips. The iPhone 8 is expected to use a 10nm process, meanwhile the Taiwanese chipmaker is offering a 7nm process for next year’s iPhone …...

At the D11 Conference, Jason Johnson and Yves Bahar have unveiled a new digital lock system for home doors called “August.” The iPhone app allows users to send virtual keys to doors to other users. The system installs as a deadbolt with two screws into modern doors. The company says that installation is seamless… A scenario demonstrated on stage includes a user with his phone in his pocket being able to open an authenticated door while his hands are full....

U.S. carriers are racing to get 5G up and running, and with the transition from 4G LTE, there’s a ton of controversy regarding the upcoming new wireless standards. Most of the controversy is coming from AT&T, which recently pushed an update to select Android phones to replace the 4G LTE logo with a 5G E logo instead. According to a report from VentureBeat, AT&T says that it wants to roll out its 5G network by early 2020....

Some Fallout 76 players in Australia are now able to get refunds, thanks to a government ruling which says companies who mislead consumers must allow them their money back.
